Fire District 2 commissioner lauded

PORT ANGELES- The Washington Fire Commissioners Association honored Clallam 2 Commissioner Dick Ruud with two separate awards for a lifetime of dedication to the fire service.The first award was for his 35 years of service as a fire commissioner, and the second award was for his 63 years of continuous duty in the fire service. Fire Chief Sam Phillips:

Dick Ruud joined the fire district in 1954 as a volunteer firefighter. Over the next 24 years he rose up through the ranks holding positions of firefighter, driver/operator, Lieutenant, Captain and Chief of his station in Dry Creek. Elected to the position of Fire Commissioner in 1982, Dick has held the position continuously for 35 years.
