October 9th, 2017 - 05:30 am

(Port Angeles) – Port Angeles police spent the weekend looking for a shoe-stealing suspect.

The incident happened Friday afternoon when police were dispatched to a report of a "pepper spray robbery".

The victim was a 16 year old male tourist from Canada who was walking back to his hotel room located near Front and Peabody.

The suspect reportedly pulled up next to him on a white BMX bike, brandished a can of “bear mace,” and demanded the juvenile’s shoes. The suspect was a white male in his 20’s, about 5’9” wearing purple. The stolen shoes are newer all red Jordan Basketball shoes with a white tongue.

Police later located a possible suspect wearing what was believed to be the stolen shoes near the Mobile gas station on Lincoln Street. As officers arrived, the suspect fled southbound. A police K-9 was brought in, but a large rainstorm moved into the area and police lost track of the suspect.
