Presentation on Gardening With Bees

May 12th, 2017 - 12:30 pm

On Saturday, May 20th, Cindy Ericksen will lead a presentation entitled “Bee-centric Gardening.” The class will take place at 10am at the Master Gardener’s Woodcock Demonstration Garden located at 2711 Woodcock Road. The presentation is free and open to the public.

During Ericksen’s presentation, she will discuss threats to pollinators and the importance of protecting and restoring pollinator habitat to encourage bee activity.  Ericksen will also give the audience steps to consider while creating a landscape to support our pollinators. Honey bee populations have been seeing a decline in the past years, so it is vital that we take steps to promote their presence in our gardens and other local habitats.

Ericksen has been a Master Gardener for over ten years, and has maintained the bee hive at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden. She is passionate about educating others on how to protect our precious honey bee populations.

This presentation begins the “Saturday in the Garden” lecture series at the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden. To find the complete listing of lectures throughout the summer months, visit
