Unemployment numbers climb locally

(Port Angeles) -- Unemployment rates shot up last month in Clallam County.

According to state figures, the rate jumped to 7-point-2 percent in October.

That's up more than half a percent from September.

Clallam County added 180 more people to the unemployment rolls in October.

Last October, the area had an unemployment rate of five-point-two percent.

Clallam County's jump mirrored the state's numbers as it also went up more than half a percent last month to five-point-eight percent. Last year the state's unemployemtn rate stood at four percent.
