Forks man facing assault charge

August 19th, 2008 - 6:30am

(Forks) -- A Forks man will be arraigned on felony charges Friday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and broke her jaw.

22-year old Derek Robert Schuyler made a first appearance Monday afternoon in Clallam County Superior Court on one count of Second-Degree Assault.

In charging documents, Prosecutors say Forks Police were called to an Ash Avenue residence in Forks just after midnight Saturday.

Papers say the arriving Forks police officer found Schuyler kneeling over the victim, arm raised with a clenched fist.

Documents says after the defendant was arrested, the victim reported she was pushed into a wall hard enough to break the wallboard, then punched twice in the jaw.

The victim was transported to Forks hospital by medics.

Judge George Wood set bail for Schuyler at 15-thousand dollars, ordering him to appear for arraignment Friday afternoon at 1:30.
